Welcome to Texas Select German Shepherds!

Welcome to Texas Select German Shepherds! We wanted to give everyone interested in our German Shepherd Puppies a chance to get to know us on a more personal level. We have so many characters in our “pack” of German Shepherd Dogs that we thought you might enjoy some of the stories they provide. There is so much to know about German Shepherd Dogs that we would like to share what we know and what we learn (since there is always something new).

Texas Select German Shepherds is run by my son, Kyle, and myself, David (“Doc”) McClellan. We have approximately 150 acres in Liberty, Texas (middle of NOWHERE!! Lol) that we utilize not only for our German Shepherds and their puppies, but also for our herd of horses and cattle. A little background about myself, I am a 3rd generation horseman and have spent a lifetime breeding horses and cattle. Our cattle operation was for bull riding where we were involved in PBR, CBR, NRA and UBBI.
One of our bulls...btw, that is a 7 foot fence behind him! What a beast!

We have since gotten out of the bull business and invested more into our horses and beef cattle. We currently have 50 head of horses (daretobedilute.com) that we either breed or enter into races all across the United States. We have also previously raised Catahoula Dogs to aid our cattle operation. In short, breeding animals is what we do.

We started Texas Select German Shepherds four years ago when Kyle came to me and said, “Dad, lets breed German Shepherd Dogs”.  Who knew the world of breeding German Shepherd Dogs was this complicated. WOW! What an eye opener. Thank goodness for the internet, as it has allowed us to accelerate our knowledge of German Shepherd Dogs. With so much to learn, this has become an awesome father-son venture. Sometimes children can have remarkably good ideas! They are gifts from God!  Kyle is getting the chance to learn about and experience business, capitalism, investment, banking and responsibility while being involved with something he loves.

Now the question was where to start. Since we live in Southeast Texas, we had to look for the right breeder and pedigree to start with. We wanted a line with medium-short coat since the heat down here is ridiculous. A great Heidelberg German Shepherd named Shadow is who we decided would become our initial investment.
Kyle was so proud the day we brought Shadow home.

We have since invested more and now have multiple imported German Shepherd Dogs. In our research we have come to understand the importance of good hips and elbows in this breed and since this is a common health issue we ensure that all of our German Shepherd Dogs are OFA certified, guaranteeing our pups health in this area. We currently have 4 females and 3 males. Mieshka and Ritzi are both Red & Black German Shepherd Dogs. Our other two females are Solid Black German Shepherd Dogs, Alba and Sasha. We had Alba imported directly from Slovakia. Our males include Shadow, our original Red & Black German Shepherd Dog, Bourbon- our solid Black German Shepherd Dog that was imported from the Czech Republic and our newest addition, a Dark Red & Black German Shepherd Dog, Bravo. While our Solid Black line is where we want it, we are looking to add a few more Red & Black female German Shepherd Dogs to our pack. You can check out photos, pedigrees and other information of each of our female German Shepherd Dogs HERE and our male German Shepherd Dogs HERE. We will also be posting about each one individually so you can get to know them better too.

In order to keep this a fun and interesting experience, we don’t want to get too big. Our goal is first and foremost ensuring that we produce healthy, well adjusted, beautiful  German Shepherd Puppies. We like being able to make available this quality of German Shepherd Puppy at a reasonable price for those who want the perfect pet or trusted guard dog. We also are constantly improving our program so that we can continue to provide the highest level quality German Shepherd Puppies. We have the finest German Shepherd Dogs with German, Czech and Slovak bloodlines, ensuring you are getting the quality that professional breeders would desire to improve their program.

There is always something to learn about these amazing animals and we look forward to sharing our knowledge with you so you are able to take the first step in the direction you want to go. Whether it be your best family dog ever or an awesome guard dog you can entrust with your family, we know that a German Shepherd Puppy from Texas Select German Shepherds will be the puppy of your dreams. We love our German Shepherd Dogs and know you will too!

Kyle recently broke his leg, so I am currently doing most of the work. However, this summer he will be working with Bravo to title him. We are also looking forward to having multiple litters due in the fall, allowing us to have puppies ready to go at Christmas time. It’s such a wonderful time of year and we love seeing people get to pick out the next addition to their family.

We will be posting weekly with more information about each member of our pack, in addition to information about the German Shepherd Dog breed and any other knowledge we acquire. We look forward to getting to know you as you get to know us. Please contact us with any questions you have or to reserve your German Shepherd Puppy by contacting us HERE.
